Turnips

Turnips - well I don't like to eat them and I don't think I like to paint them either. We lost all our snow last night so now we have this weird greenish grass outside.

This is how far I've gotten on the "Shadows" painting. I decided to stop working on the head and filled in the rest to bring everything up to the same intensity. I still have several places to work on, the thread holder "thingie" in the left front, the tapestry, the bottom half and top half of the mirror have only one coat. There should be a couple walking on the grass, a lantern hanging near the mirror, and a tree. If you want to see the original google John William Waterhouse Shawdows. I still don't have a good likeness for the Lady, but I'll get back to her.

I tried another grouping on the windowsill. Right now I have to wait until around 2 pm to get the sun in the back of the house. These are Pink Ladies which are my favorite, next to Macs.

Tea Time

This was fun but took a lot longer than expected. Still think I could work on it more , but I'm done for now. I've been using colored 12" x 12" scrapbooking paper for the background and table top colors. I like being able to choose a color to go with the objects I have chosen.

Shadows

This is a 30" x 40" painting I have started based on the painting by John William Waterhouse called "Shadows". The next stage in the glazing. One of my goals this years is to copy a masterpiece each month.Tthis is from a DVD produce by Liledahl Video Productions.

Sunbathing

This is the end of the little red pears. they got pretty ripe. I painted on a masonite panel primed with acrylic gesso. don't think I had enough of a gesso coating on their because the paint disappeared as I put it one. Much different surface to work on. I like the contrast of the red pear color and the green pine trees in the background.
